I actually came up with the idea for this series as a joke.  I certainly had never heard of anyone doing a series on "animals of the Bible" and I was pretty sure there must have been a reason why!

Initially my goal was to have a LIVE whatever-animal-I-was-speaking-on at church each Sunday. However, while a snake or dove or grasshopper aren't so hard to do, the raven, lion, whale and eagle proved much more difficult!

What we ended up doing is having all kinds of different animals - a giant turtle, a porcupine, a monkey, huge lizards, mice, parrots, snakes, etc.  Someone in our church works at an area animal-rescue type zoo and provided most of them. We had a local PETCO that brought some animals just for us giving them a little plug in the service.  Your local zoo might bring some (although they will likely charge for it).   People in your church may have a horse or pig or some other animal they could bring.

Sometimes we had the animals available both before and after church and sometimes just afterward.  Some of them were outside by the entrance and some were in the lobby.  People were allowed to hold most all the animals.  We took lots of pictures and then showed them in a media in the service on the final week of the series.

As you can see in the SERIES SUMMARY SHEET, each "animal of the Bible" represents different things (the raven - God's provision, the lion - courage, etc.).

This series created a lot of buzz.  This would be a great one to follow Easter or be the first series in the fall.

Message titles include "The Raven", "The Lion", "The Dove and the Snake", "The Whale", "The Grasshopper" and "The Eagle".

Part One - The Raven

Part Two - The Lion

Part Three -The Dove & the Snake

Part Four - The Whale

Part Five - The Grasshopper

Part Five - The Eagle
However, this turned out to be one of the funnest and most creative series we've ever done.
It seems like more people than ever are "animal lovers" (of course it's not really very politically correct to be an "animal hater") and they loved this series.
You can download the entire series in the ZIP FILES below.   Most all series have message transcripts, power point and series graphic.  Some have videos, series summary sheet, etc.
